The Smithsonian's National Museum of Asian Art comprises the Freer Gallery and the adjoining Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, together holding art from across Asia and the Islamic world. The Freer also keeps the largest collection of works by James McNeill Whistler, including his Peacock Room interior. The galleries connect underground beneath the Mall.
