Rome
The Pantheon, rebuilt by Hadrian around AD 125 on an earlier temple, is the best-preserved monument of ancient Rome. Its coffered concrete dome, open to the sky through a central oculus, remains the largest unreinforced concrete dome in the world. A church since the seventh century, it holds the tombs of Raphael and Italian kings.
