The Musée de l'Orangerie, in a former greenhouse at the edge of the Tuileries, was designed to display Claude Monet's late Water Lilies in two oval rooms lit from above. Below, the Walter-Guillaume Collection gathers Impressionist and early modern painting. Monet conceived the murals as a refuge for contemplation after the First World War.
