Venice
The National Archaeological Museum of Venice, off the Piazza San Marco, holds Greek and Roman sculpture given to the Republic by the Grimani family in the sixteenth century. The ancient marbles, much admired by Renaissance artists, shaped the city's taste for the antique. The collection adjoins the monumental halls of the Marciana Library.
