Chicago
The Chicago History Museum, founded in 1856 as the Chicago Historical Society, traces the city from frontier settlement through the Great Fire, the stockyards, and the world's fairs. Galleries combine costumes, photographs, and reconstructed streetscapes with the bed in which Abraham Lincoln died. The museum sits at the southern edge of Lincoln Park.
