Vienna
Schönbrunn was the Habsburgs' summer residence, a Baroque palace of more than a thousand rooms set in formal gardens rising to the Gloriette. State rooms display the apartments of Maria Theresa and Franz Joseph, and the grounds hold a maze, a palm house, and the world's oldest surviving zoo. The palace and gardens are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
