Vienna
The Natural History Museum, twin to the Kunsthistorisches across the square, holds tens of millions of specimens beneath a domed nineteenth-century roof. Its best-known object is the Venus of Willendorf, a limestone figurine carved some thirty thousand years ago. Mineral cabinets, dinosaur skeletons, and historic taxidermy fill the original Ringstrasse galleries.
