Vienna
The Josephinum was founded by Emperor Joseph II in 1785 as a training academy for military surgeons and holds an extraordinary collection of anatomical and obstetric wax models. Commissioned in Florence, the more than a thousand figures were made to teach anatomy without dissection. Reopened in 2022 after restoration, the museum traces the history of medicine in Vienna.
