Los Angeles
Hollyhock House, Frank Lloyd Wright's first Los Angeles commission, was built in the early 1920s for oil heiress Aline Barnsdall on a rise in East Hollywood. The concrete house draws on Mayan motifs and the stylized hollyhock flower that gives it its name. It is the only Wright building in Los Angeles open for public tours and is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
