Paris
The Musée d'Orsay occupies a Beaux-Arts railway station on the Left Bank, built for the 1900 World's Fair and converted to a museum in 1986. It holds the national collection of French art from 1848 to 1914, with the world's greatest gathering of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist painting. The great clock and the sculpture-filled nave are part of the building's drama.
