National Portrait Gallery

The National Portrait Gallery tells American history through the likenesses of those who shaped it, from presidents and activists to artists and scientists. Its presidential portraits, including the Obama commissions, draw the largest crowds. The museum occupies the Old Patent Office Building alongside the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
