The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum documents the persecution and murder of six million Jews and millions of others under Nazi Germany. Its permanent exhibition leads visitors chronologically through the rise of Nazism, the ghettos and camps, and the aftermath, using artifacts, film, and personal testimony. A railcar of the type used in deportations is among the objects on the route.
